Director Jen’s Vision for Education
Young Explorers Club
When I was a child growing up in Asia, I was a hardworking student – sitting quietly in the classroom, listening attentively to my teachers, completing homework late into the night, and striving to perform well on every test to meet my parents’ expectations. Although we rarely experienced hands-on projects or joyful, exploratory learning, we learned the true value and importance of education.
Today, as both a parent and an educator, I see many families who share the same deep commitment to meaningful, well-rounded learning. We want our children not only to understand the value of education, but also to enjoy the journey – to explore with curiosity, create with imagination, collaborate with others, and develop the confidence to take on new challenges.
I also believe that some of the most meaningful learning happens when we look beyond our own classrooms and communities. When children from different countries learn together, they discover new perspectives, exchange ideas, appreciate different cultures, and realize how much they can learn from one another. The challenges facing our world increasingly cross borders, and the next generation will need the curiosity, compassion, confidence, and collaborative skills to solve them together.
I often think about children around the world who have the potential to become tomorrow’s scientists, inventors, educators, leaders, and changemakers, yet may not have access to the educational opportunities that could help their talents and dreams flourish. Every child has potential. Sometimes, all they need is an opportunity to discover it – and an opportunity to connect, learn, and grow with others.
Education shapes the future of our children – and ultimately, the future of our communities and our world. By connecting young learners across cultures, we can help them see themselves not only as students in their own communities, but also as global learners and future leaders who can work together to make a positive difference.
Our vision is to bring together children, families, educators, schools, universities, community organizations, and partners around the globe to create high-quality, accessible, and inspiring learning experiences that nurture the whole child while building meaningful connections across cultures.
Together, let us cultivate a joyful and globally connected learning community where children around the world can explore together, learn from one another, collaborate across cultures, and grow with confidence — celebrating both their differences and what they share, taking on real-world challenges side by side, dreaming without borders, and reaching for the stars.

What Makes Us Unique
At Young Explorers Club, our well-structured Project-Based Learning (PBL) curriculum engages students in meaningful, real-world topics through exploration, hands-on discovery, and collaboration. Teachers guide students throughout their learning journey – sparking curiosity, encouraging student choice, and helping learners transform their ideas and discoveries into projects they can confidently share.
Our learning model follows three key steps:
- Explore – Students investigate new topics through books, videos, discussions, and research. We regularly invite guest speakers to introduce a wide range of STEM subjects and inspire curiosity about real-world questions.
- Create – Students bring their ideas to life through hands-on experiments, design challenges, and creative projects. They build, test, problem-solve, and refine their ideas using a variety of materials and tools.
- Share – Students reflect on their discoveries, exchange ideas with teammates, and communicate what they have learned. At the end of each semester and summer camp week, students participate in STEM presentations, showcases, and class performances, proudly sharing their work with peers and families.
While many children thrive when creating projects, sharing and presenting their work can be more challenging. That is why we place special emphasis on teamwork, communication, presentation, and performance opportunities that help children build confidence and grow as young leaders.
Through Project-Based Learning, students do more than memorize facts – they explore, create, problem-solve, collaborate, and share, developing valuable skills in research, creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and public speaking that extend far beyond the classroom.
At Young Explorers Club, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens when students look beyond the classroom and discover how their ideas connect to the wider world. Our Global STEAM Explorers program brings real-world challenges and cross-cultural learning into the elementary classroom, helping children see learning as something they can explore, experience, share, and use to make a difference.
Through Global STEM Research and Community Service Projects, students investigate meaningful topics that affect communities around the world. They ask questions, explore solutions, complete hands-on projects, and learn from college STEM teams, educators, professionals, and community partners who bring real-world knowledge and experiences into their learning.
Learning Across Cultures
Our programs create opportunities for young learners in the United States and Asia to connect across cultures. Students explore different countries and communities, exchange ideas and discoveries, learn about cultures and traditions, and collaborate on shared STEM research and community service projects.
By connecting classrooms across borders, children discover that while our cultures and experiences may be different, we can learn from one another, celebrate our differences, and work together toward shared goals.
Learning Today. Leading Tomorrow.
These experiences go beyond learning facts. They help students develop curiosity, global awareness, communication, collaboration, empathy, and confidence while discovering how their ideas, knowledge, and actions can contribute to the world around them.
Our goal is to help children grow from curious young explorers into compassionate global learners and future leaders – ready to take on real-world challenges, connect with people from different backgrounds, and make a positive difference in their communities and beyond.
At Young Explorers Club, we are proud to have a collaborative team of passionate educators, curriculum developers, teaching artists, college mentors, and high school leaders working together locally and globally to create meaningful educational experiences for young learners.
Our team also partners closely with schools, community organizations, universities, professional teams, and student groups to bring diverse perspectives, expertise, and real-world experiences into our programs. Together, we create engaging learning opportunities that support children’s academic, social, emotional, and creative growth while connecting them with their communities and the wider world.
Through mentorship, collaboration, and a shared commitment to quality education, our educators create a supportive and joyful environment where children feel encouraged to explore new ideas, take on challenges, build confidence, and discover their unique strengths.
Together, we are dedicated to inspiring the next generation of curious thinkers, creative problem-solvers, compassionate leaders, and lifelong learners – equipping them not only with knowledge, but also with the confidence, skills, global perspective, and joy of learning to help shape a brighter future.

Associate Director
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s degree in Education and have certainly found my life-long passion is working with children and families.
I have worked in the field of Early Childhood Education since 2010. Over the years I have gotten the opportunity to really expand and work with many diverse groups of children ranging from those with special needs to those that have English as a second language. I have worked as a teacher in the Bellevue School District as well as many private companies doing curriculum development, teaching, family liaison and much more; all of which has allowed me to help many children and families throughout my career.
Children are the cornerstone of the world, and my belief is that if given the opportunity every child would be able to accomplish a great things-my goal is to help as many children reach their dreams as possible as well as assist their families in making those dreams a reality.
