Position Overview
Issaquah Parks & Community Services is partnering with Young Explorers Club to offer Schoolhouse Rec!, an elementary before & after school program. We provide a variety of fun, quality, project-based classes that help students build a strong academic foundation, find a passion for STEAM exploration, and develop social skills. We are looking for warm, dependable, and creative teachers, new or experienced, to teach our classes.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise children at all times to ensure their health and safety.
- Provide lessons and activities in a nurturing, active learning environment for children to grow cognitively, physically, socially, and emotionally.
- Assist with providing an interactive, well-kept classroom that encourages exploration and creativity. Inspect equipment and materials to ensure they are safe and clean for children’s use.
- Perform other duties as assigned (special events, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Love to nurture and teach young children
- Have clean criminal background check
- College students with major/minor in Education, Arts, STEM, World Languages, or related fields preferred
- Experience working with children as a teacher, counselor, or coach preferred
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $25-$30/hour ($2500-$3000/month)

- Online Registration: Registration is available online for families wishing to sign their Explorers up themselves or you can email us at admin@youngedu.org and we will be happy to assist you in getting your Explorers into a program. We also host info sessions on Saturday afternoons for parents to learn more about our programs before registering any classes.
- Age/Grade Restrictions:
- Preschool program: Ages 2.5-5 at the program start time
- Elementary program: Grades K-5 at the program start time
- Registration Options: Our preschool, after school and weekend enrichment programs run from September to June (Fall semester and Spring semester). Families can register classes for one semester, one month or a drop-in class.
- Refunds: We do not charge an application fee. If you need to reschedule or cancel classes, please email us at admin@youngedu.org and we will help you sign up for another class or issue a full refund back to your credit card or PayPal account.
- Late Registrations and Discounts: The online registration system automatically prorates the price for late registrations. If you register a class with friends, please email us at admin@youngedu.org and we will be happy to assist you in applying group discounts.
